Anza Borrego Desert, CA
I shot this photo in Anza Borrego Desert this morning. What Bird.com helped me to identify it as a Black-head Grosbeak - probably a second year male (one year old).
The wind was blowing, so I had to use shutter priority mode and manual focus with my lens. I'm not that quick and the birds kept flitting from spot to spot. Luckily this one stopped to sample the insects in an ocotillo blossom.
