                                                           Anza  Borrego Desert, CA

Early in the morning, Jerry and I could hear the quail and sometimes see them run from bush to bush.  But I could not capture a photograph of one.  I finally gave up and went back to our patio.  I still had my tripod and camera set up when I spotted one far off in the distance sitting atop of an ocotillo branch.  It was as though he were the look out for the others who came scurrying through the underbrush.  I am still learning how to shoot with my large lens:  I wish I had captured his face in full light.  Next time ...
