The Western Tanager migrates from Central America to Canada.  The bottom photos are of females on their northern migration.   This weekend (May 22, 2010) I was finally able to capture a photo of the more showier males with their red heads (first photo).  

In the very last photo, I applied lab color rather than RGB to create a different effect, making it look more like a painting.
