Yucatan Woodpecker(Melanerpes pygmaeus) ORDER: Piciformes

This woodpecker is found in Belize, Honduras, and Mexico, and ranges over the entire Yucatán Peninsula. At the lodge where we stayed, which was also a working farm, the owner viewed these woodpeckers as beautiful pests. Apparently, their pecking does a lot of damage.
