I have some long time friends - Janet Eileen, Margret Turner Courtney, and Rae Shillman Barnes.  We have been buddies since elementary school and jr. high.  Back in the day, we would spend summers at the beach, primarily in San Clemente and Balboa Island.  We especially enjoyed Balboa for it was a mecca for teenagers in the 60s.   As teens we would buy Balboa bars or a frozen banana and walk the island looking for a good time.  Balboa is special to us.  For this reason, every year Janet invites us back to Balboa for a reunion at her cousin's vacation home.
