Mule Deer, who live in the West, are recognized  by their very large gray ears, forked antlers, and drooping tail tipped in black.  Several deer wandered through our campsite to forage around 6 pm one evening.  Luckily for me, our fellow campers were quiet, so I was able to photograph the deer from a relatively close postion.
