This beautiful little bird is a juvenile green-tailed towhee coming into its adult plumage. Although Pipilo chlorurus, is the smallest towhee, it is  one of the larger members of the "American sparrow" family Emberizidae.  While camping, we would see them hop about and quickly hide in the bushes.
