Iced Tea
Makes 2 quarts
For a tea that's not cloudy and bitter, use water at room temperature and do not heat
10 plain Lipton tea bags - tie together for easy removal 6 cups room temperature water (Using unheated water makes a strong tea without bitterness.) Add simple syrup adjusting the amount depending on desired sweetness
(Simple syrup ensures that the sugar fully dissolves into the tea.)
1. Submerge tea bags in water in serving pitcher. 2. Steep for 45 minutes. 3. Remove and discard tea bags. 4. Serve over ice.
Simple Syrup
1 cup water 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
1. Heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar about 5 minutes until sugar is dissolved. 2. Cool to room temperature. 3. Strain and discard zest.
Syrup can be refrigerated for 1 week.
